Oil, gas, propane or electric — we work on whatever is actually in your basement

Heating, cooling and ventilation across Smithtown and western Suffolk County. Long Island runs on four different fuels and three different kinds of system, and which you have changes almost every answer.

01

Heating, whatever it burns

Oil-fired boilers and furnaces, natural gas, propane, electric resistance and heat pumps. A great many companies here work on one or two of those and quietly decline the rest, which is fine until it is your system.

  • Annual service, including nozzle, filter and strainer work on oil
  • No-heat call-outs on any of the four
  • Combustion, safeties, flue and heat exchanger checks
  • Boiler, circulator, zone valve and baseboard work
  • Replacement, with a load calculation before anything is chosen
02

Cooling

Central air where there are ducts, ductless heads where there are not, and repairs on either. Long Island summers are humid enough that sizing matters more than most people are told: an oversized system reaches temperature before it has run long enough to take the moisture out, and the house ends up cold and clammy.

03

Ducts, airflow and the things nobody measures

Static pressure against the blower’s own rating, room-by-room airflow where there is a complaint, return sizing, and leakage into an attic or a crawlspace that you pay for twice.

Most of the comfort complaints we are called to are about air that is not arriving, not about equipment that has failed. That is measurable, and measuring it is cheaper than replacing things.

04

Your fuel decides most of the conversation

What you burn and what burns it together decide how the system is serviced, what can realistically replace it, what it costs to run and what is worth worrying about. There is a page on this site that takes both and writes out what they mean, with no price attached.

Homes and businesses

Homes

Houses across Smithtown, Hauppauge, Commack, Kings Park and St James. Breakdowns, replacements, boilers and baseboard, ducts, ductless and the humidity that decides how a house feels in August.

Businesses

Shops, professional suites, clinics, restaurants, small offices and light industrial. Maintenance with a record per unit, rooftop plant, extract and make-up air, and work timed around when you trade.

Honestly

Three things we will not tell you

  • That your fuel is the wrong fuelOil, gas, propane and electricity all heat houses on this island and all of them have a case. Switching fuel is a large decision with a long payback and it deserves numbers from your building, not a sales line from a website.
  • What percentage you will saveA correctly set-up system genuinely costs less to run than a badly set-up one. What that is worth depends on your tariff, your building and your habits, so we put a figure on it after measuring — never before.
  • How fast we will get thereWe will tell you honestly where you are in the queue and call you back. A guaranteed number of hours gets broken on the first properly cold night in January, which is exactly when you would be relying on it.
Questions

Common questions

Do you work on oil as well as gas?

Yes, and on propane, electric and heat pumps. A great many companies here work on one or two and quietly decline the rest, which is fine until it is your system. There is a page on this site that sets out what each fuel means for servicing and for replacement.

How often does an oil burner need servicing?

Annually, and it needs a real service rather than a look. The nozzle, oil filter, strainer and electrodes are consumables. A burner that has not been touched in three years will be sooting up and costing you money before it ever fails.

My house has baseboard heat. Can I get air conditioning?

Yes, but not through the heating system, because there is no ductwork to use. That means ductless heads, a small-duct system, or retrofitting conventional ducts, which in an older house is mostly carpentry. All three are legitimate and they cost very different amounts.

The air from my heat pump is not hot. Is it broken?

Usually not. A heat pump delivers a large volume of warm air rather than a small volume of hot air, and long run times are normal. Defrost cycles in cold damp weather look alarming and are the system working correctly.

Should I switch off oil?

That depends on your building, not on a website. The load, the distribution, your electrical supply, what is available at the street and what you pay for each fuel all decide it. We will measure those and set the options out, including the option of keeping what you have.
